Here's one detail about the much speculated about iPad Mini that we didn't expect: It may come in black. The above is a picture of a leaked back plate for the purported smaller iPad obtained by UkrainianiPhone, which clearly appears to have come from a black version of the device.
While the most recent versions of the iPad have been available with either black or white front panels, the back panel has always been silver— much like the casing for MacBooks. If this photo is to be believed, the iPad Mini, however, will take its color cues from the most recent versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch, both of which are available in sleek matte black bodies.
In other iPad Mini news, the Wall Street Journal reports today that mass production of the device is already underway, with LG and AU Optronics cranking out 7.85 inch sub-Retina LCD displays for the device.
