The CW Is Buying Historial Dramas Described as "Game of Thrones" meets "Marie Antoinette" Now

Because it's just what TV needs.

None

In an attempt to jump on the whole Game of Thrones-inspired period drama bandwagon, Vulture is reporting that the network where dreams and teen soaps go to die, The CW, has just ordered Reign, a historical drama that is apparently a "fantastical reimagining of the teenage Mary, Queen of Scots." If you fell asleep in high school history class, Mary was the reigning queen of Scotland from 1542 to 1567, and she ascended to the throne at just six days old when her father, King James V of Scotland, passed away. Her coronation was then held when she was nine months old. Can you say badass bitch?

It's also being described as Game of Thrones-meets-Marie Antoinette, so probably expect lots of blood, dragons, and lavish cocktail parties that don't make sense for the era in which they're set. Never change, CW.
