The much-needed patch for Silent Hill HD Collection, which purports to fix some issues ranging from frame rate hiccups to audio not syncing up properly, was released today for PS3 users. You need only boot up the game while connected to the PlayStation Network and you'll automatically be prompted to download the update.

However, as we reported back in August, the Xbox 360 version of Silent Hill HD won't be getting the patch at all. Konami ditched plans to fix the game on Microsoft's console "due to technical issues and resources." We were hoping they'd change their minds, but the company's statement is the same today as it was then.

Silent Hill HD Collection features Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3, largely regarded as the two best games in the series, with updated graphics, controls, and achievements/trophies. From what we've played, the issues on Xbox 360 aren't really too noticeable. Nevertheless, are there any Xbox 360 gamers out there feeling shafted? Any PS3 users who can report whether the patch does indeed fix the game's issues?

Update: As was generously pointed out to us, the PS3 patch was actually deployed in August, and Konami appears to have sent out today's press release in error. Move along, folks.
