PlayStation's Day 1 Digital Service Launches With Blockbuster Games And Bonuses

As the gaming world continues to embrace electronic sales, Sony has now unleashed their own answer to our complaints of waiting in long lines and store-hopping when games sell out.

Day 1 Digital is PlayStation Network's new solution. The service allows you to download every new PlayStation game the day it hit stores with bonuses including free PS3 XMB themes of pre-ordered games and (for the rest of October) $20 credits towards new purchases for every $100 you spend. PlayStation Plus members get an additional 10% off selected games.

Here's a look at some of the upcoming games that be will available to download and pre-order.

Resident Evil 6 10/2/12: this newest chapter in the epic franchise introduces a new horror, the highly virulent C-virus, which makes Ebola look like mild indigestion. New character Jake Muller joins Resident Evil® mainstays Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield, as the narrative moves between North America, the war-torn Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.

NBA 2K13 10/2/12: Why 2K? Because the newly enhanced MyCAREER mode and all-new gameplay features allows gamers to pit the best players in NBA history against an all new dynasty of talent, including the much-debated matchup between the 2012 U.S. Men’s National team and the 1992 “Dream Team.” Shall we settle this MJ/Kobe thing once and for all?

Dishonored 10/9/12: While this sounds like it should be a first person player game where you are a celebrity whose cell phone has been hacked, in reality it is a role-playing game in which you play an imperial bodyguard framed for the murder of an Empress who must become an infamous assassin who must combine abilities, gadgets and one hell of an intimidating mask to exact your revenge.

007 Legends 10/16/12: Bond. James Bond. Featuring missions set in the most iconic settings of 007’s five-decade film history, the story has been expanded to include re-imagined characters, expanded gameplay and new plotlines. Please note: this game arrives shaken, not stirred.

Doom 3: BFG Edition 10/16/12: From the franchise that revolutionized the first-person shooter game comes this epic collection, which includes DOOM® 3, the Resurrection of Evil® add-on pack and hours of new content, including The Lost Mission--seven never before seen levels. The game also includes a full PS3™ re-master in 3D.
