According to Variety, Sony is moving forward with its plans to relaunch Masters of the Universe on the big screen by hiring Expendables 2 writer Richard Wenk to rewrite the script for the movie. Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) has already signed on to direct the film, which has been rumored to be penciled in for a 2015 release date.
This will be the second Masters of the Universe movie to come out, with the first one having been released in 1987. That version was the type of cheesy cinema that the decade was known for, but we would expect this one to be much less tongue-in-cheek. We’ll have more information on Masters of the Universe when it becomes available.
