Atlus has announced the the fourth entry in its old school RPG series, Etrian Odyssey, will be localized and released in the US by "early 2013." Called Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan, the dungeon-crawler is already out in Japan, though until now a US release wasn't certain.

The Etrian Odyssey series is meant as a modern-day re-imagining of the pen-and-paper games of old, with plenty of modern twists, of course. At its heart, though, it's a hardcore first-person dungeon crawler. Legends of the Titan is the series' first foray onto 3DS.

"The Etrian Odyssey series is an enduring love letter to a bygone era, a time when the thrill of adventure; the rewards of imagination; and the satisfaction of true challenge could truly transport gamers to another world," state Atlus's Manager of PR and Sales, Aram Jabbari, in a recent press release. We reckon that's a pretty good decscription of the series' appeal.

Are you a hardcore dungeon-crawler at heart?
