What made one California man think that an effigy of President Obama was in the same league as a scarecrow in terms of Halloween decorations? We don't know either, but it earned Eddie Million of Moreno Valley a visit from the Secret Service. Million dismissed it all as a "misunderstanding," saying it was just a prank that got out of control.

Million explained that he wanted to hang something "something spooky," and a noose is "scary." He's right, it is scary, and also offensive to a particular community. The fact that the President happens to belong to that community makes it that much worse.

Million says he took it down "immediately" when he thought about how bad it looked, and the Secret Service said they were putting his name on file. That's not the list you want to be on.
