If you grew up in the 1980s, odds are the words “Blue Lagoon” call to mind a nimble Brooke Shields swimming in the buff, not a refreshing cocktail that’s equal parts vodka and Blue Curacao liquor. In fact, one of the theories on the drink’s much disputed origin is that it was named after the iconic 1980 film (perhaps by a mixologist who was a huge Christopher Atkins fan, but probably not). Combine the vodka and Blue Curacao in a highball glass with ice. Top off with fresh lemonade and garnish with a lemon, cherry, or whatever you prefer. Then pick up a copy of Blue Lagoon from your local library and fast-forward to the good parts.
