Theme parks usually revolve around pleasant, inoffensive things, like chocolate, but at La Caminata, in Alberto, Mexico, a decidedly heavier issuer is tackled: illegal immigration.

For $18, you can participate in what the theme park deems "The Hike," a four-hour, almost 8-mile journey that re-creates the experience of crossing the U.S. border illegally. With a tour guide, tourists are led through the night, forced to contend with border patrol and battle the elements, as seen in the video above.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, tour guide Julian Garcia contends the border-crossing simulation is "meant to discourage migration so people will realize how much suffering is involved."

The theme park has drew thousands of tourists since its opening in 2004. So either it really is an enlightening experience, or there is niche market of masochistic tourists. Your call.
