In a rare occurrence, both End of Watch and House at the End of the Street tied for the top spot at the domestic box office this weekend with $13 million each, according to Collider. Of course these are just weekend estimates for now, but the two movies were so close that neither could be definitively declared the winner as of yet. The official numbers will likely be in by tomorrow.

Coming in third place was Clint Eastwood’s Trouble with the Curve, with $12.7 million. It’s a soft opening for a movie starring Clint, but it’s one that isn’t necessarily unexpected given the material. The biggest surprise of the weekend is the fact that Dredd 3D only made about $6.3 million for the weekend, despite earning decent reviews. Perhaps the movie came out a month or two too late as most comic book movies fare much better during the summer months.

In a bit of good news for movie fans, The Master opened wider this weekend and pulled in an impressive $5 million. This movie will most likely keep chugging along until it blows up as the critical acclaim and award nominations start to pour in.
