We may still have two months to go until Skyfall hits theaters, but that isn’t stopping the rumor mill from churning with potential news on the next James Bond film. According to The Express, Benedict Cumberbatch is expected to sign on as the Bond villain for the 24th installment in the franchise, which will likely hit theaters in 2014.
"Benedict is considered perfect Bond villain material," a source told the site. "Work on the next film will begin next year and the plan is for Benedict to be on board. He grew up watching Bond, so it would be a childhood ambition fulfilled. Playing a Bond villain is one of the plum roles in film history and he'd jump at the chance."
Cumberbatch is seemingly everywhere now after his roles in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Sherlock propelled him into the mainstream. If he does indeed take this part, it will be the second major franchise that he will be the villain in recently as he is also playing the unnamed baddie in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel.
