If you caught Joe Biden's Democratic National Convention speech on Thursday, you may have caught the Vice President saying "literally" quite a few times. According to The Washington Post, Biden used the word nine times during his 40 minutes at the podium. Soon after, the hashtag #literally became a trending topic on Twitter.

Not one to pass up a good opportunity, Barack Obama and his team decided to buy an ad on the search term "literally," so when people looked up tweets involving the Vice President or the word, a promotional tweet from @BarackObama would be the first thing you saw. Given the importance of social media these days, was this a smart move by Obama's campaign?
