Another day, another crazy revelation from the Apple vs. Samsung trial. The latest comes in the form of testimonies from Apple executives that explained how shocked they were when Samsung, who was a component supplier for the iPhone, released its first Galaxy smartphone in 2010.
The executives explained that since they were close partners with Samsung, they decided to offer to license their patents to the Korean electronics giant. The deal would have Samsung paying Apple $30 per smartphone sold, and $40 per tablet sold. Samsung tuned down the offer.
The testimony also revealed that Apple warned Samsung as early as August 2010 that it was infringing on some of its iPhone patents. Apple prepared a presentation to Samsung called "Samsung Copying iPhone," in which it brought up that it has "identified dozens of examples where Android is using or encouraging others to use Apple patented technology."
