Boardwalk Empire’s Michael Kenneth Williams is in talks to join director Jose Padilha’s remake of Robocop, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If the deal goes through, Williams will take the role of the friend and partner of Officer Alex Murphy, who is being played by Joel Kinnaman. Murphy is the man who eventually transforms into the mechanical Robocop when he is killed on the job, but we don't know if Williams' character will still be present after that.

Other than the news about Williams potentially joining the cast, Robocop will also star the likes of Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley

Robocop will hit theaters on August 9, 2013.
