22-year-old Brittany Cortez had her wedding day ruined after 31-year-old Joel Nevarez instructed his pit bull to attack Cortez and her husband, Jorge Cortez-Trinidad, during their wedding reception. Nevarez, a friend of the bride and groom with a history of mental issues, reportedly left the reception, then returned with the dog.
He was heard yelling "Sic her, sic her, Skylo" before the dog attacked Cortez, biting her shoulders and back. Nevarez allegedly just stood there, laughing, then began to beat the bride with brass knuckles. When her husband attempted to intervene, the dog began attacking him.
Nevarez fled, and authorities believe he could be on the way to Mexico, where he has family.
