Venerable screen actor Bob Hoskins announced that he will retire from acting immediately after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, according to BBC. Best known for his role as Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the 69-year-old actor’s career spanned four decades and included a multitude of hits.

In a statement to the press, his agent said, “Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time."

Hoskins’ most recent work was in this summer’s Snow White and the Huntsman, where he played one of the dwarves in the story.
