In an attempt to take advantage of the success of The Hunger Games, The CW is eyeing a potential TV series based on the Japanese film Battle Royale, according to The L.A. Times. Much like The Hunger Games, this film revolved around high school students being forced into a deadly game where students had to kill each other in order to survive.
Battle Royale was originally going to be remade as a film in the U.S., but various delays along the way have given The CW the opportunity to make it into a series. In order to get this show on the air, the network will have to work out a deal with the author of the original Battle Royale novel, Koushun Takami. As of now, nothing has been finalized.
