Stephen Merchant's "Hello Ladies" Picked Up By HBO

Likely another hit.

Here's another British television show for all us pretentious people to rave about: According to Deadline, HBO has just picked up a new pilot called Hello Ladies, written by and starring British comedian and Extras co-writer/co-director/star Stephen Merchant. It reportedly follows Merchant's character, a Englishman who is "searching for the woman of his dreams" in L.A., but is "half as charming as he thinks he is — and twice as desperate — he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people...unfortunately the beautiful people won’t let him in."

Additionally, The Office's Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky have signed on as executive producers, and we're gonna go out on a limb here and say that the other half of the Extras creative team, Ricky Gervais, will probably make a appearance or ten, since he and Merchant work together on basically everything.
