None

Looks like another one of the consumer tech giants are getting into the mapping game. GigaOM is reporting that Amazon today acquired 3D mapping company UpNext for an undisclosed amount.

With the Kindle Fire 2 rumored for release in the upcoming months, the acquistion of a mapping company could point to new features Amazon's upcoming tablet. As GigaOM points out, the original Kindle Fire lacked any native mapping apps as well as a GPS radio. That could all change with the Fire 2. The creation of an Amazon mapping solution would also provide more distance between itself and Google.
