Located in one of Rio de Janeiro's most lucrative real estate areas, Terra Encantada ("Enchanted Land") should have been a prized jewel for Rio de Janeiro. But it was not meant to be. The park closed in 2010 following the death of a 61-year-old woman who was thrown from a ride. It had been open just two years.
While the structures have remained intact since shutting down, it won't be around much longer. Due to its proximity to the site of the 2016 Olympic games, it will most likely be demolished soon. Out with the old, in with the new.
