Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs won't be released until 2013, according to creative director Dan Pinchbeck. The follow-up to the popular horror indie was expected to reach digital platforms like Steam this Halloween, but the developers have decided to hold off on the game's release, Pinchbeck explained in an interview with Gamezone.

"The quality of the game is the absolute first, last, and always with this development, and we felt it could do with a few more months' work to make sure that's really going to happen," said Pinchbeck.

Machine for Pigs, an indirect sequel to Amnesia: Dark Descent, takes place 60 years after the events of the original game. Set in a Victorian-style world, the story follows a wealthy industrialist suffering emotionally in the wake of a mysterious family tragedy, and physically due to an illness contracted while exploring ruins in Mesoamerica.

The game's development is a collaboration between series developer Frictional Games and Dear Esther studio Thechineseroom. Frictional recruited the other studio to help finish the sequel due to time constraints. Thechineseroom is also working on an independent project, Everybody's Gone to Rapture.
