In today's most terrifying or most over-reactionary news, a video has surfaced that appears to show a New York Citysubway conductor (operator? driver? captain?) asleep at the controls (wheel? buttons? computer?).
The video shows the man controlling the Number 1 Local train slumped down with his head lolling lifelessly as if he were asleep. He wakes up as the train pulls into its station—to the weird dismay of the person filming him ("Oh man, he woke up now, cuz we're at the stop."). Shouldn't someone be screaming in terror?
The MTA has issued a statement and will address the issue "appropriately," shorthand for "dude got canned two weeks ago." Reached for a statement, my dad told me that he was "just resting his eyes."
