Canon recently pulled back the curtain on its Mixed Reality system. Available next month, the head-mounted display lets users interact with both physical and virtual objects in their environment due to the device’s built-in camera and free-prism lens. The system isn’t for everyone just yet—it’s initially intended for industrial design, specifically automotive CAD. For instance, when designing a car, even if you only have a seat, CAD data can be seen through the display, establishing the rest of the vehicle and rendering physical mock-ups unnecessary.
