The arrival of a new Quentin Tarantino film is always something to be celebrated amongst cinephiles, and the trailer for his latest movie, Django Unchained, proves that this installment in his filmography should be no different. With some over-the-top acting, beautifully crafted violence, and the blaring sound of funk, this movie has a style that few filmmakers can hope to achieve.

The plot deals with a slave named Django (Jamie Foxx) who gets paired up with a German dentist-turned-bounty hunter named Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) in order to find the murderous Brittle Brothers. As it turns out, Django is the only man that knows what they look like. Once that bit of exposition is out of the way, the trailer kicks into gear as we see exactly what Tarantino has planned here.

Everything shown in this trailer has an energy and humor that make the film look unbelievably solid. The performances by Foxx, Waltz, and especially Leonardo DiCaprio all look spot-on as the entire project hinges on their craft. And little touches along the way, such as the blood-splattered cotton, should help make this another in the long line of hits for Tarantino.

Django Unchained will hit theaters on December 25.
