Is there another video game franchise in the world that could fill LA's Greek Theatre with thousands of people all there to hear its music? Judging by the number of Triforce tattoos and Link cosplayers we see at an average gaming convention, The Legend of Zelda has produced more fanboys and fangirls than any other series in existence.
Wednesday night was very special for plenty of these fans, including the wonderful Zelda Williams (daughter of Robin, literally named after the series), who shined brighter than Link's Light Arrows as the host of "The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses".
The symphony is comprised of four movements, which tell the stories of Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and A Link to the Past. There's plenty of other Zelda love sprinkled throughout, and the entire concert is accompanied by lovingly crafted footage from past Zelda games.
Best of all was the encore, which the show's producer, Jeron Moore, refused to reveal to us in our interview last week. "Gerudo Valley" didn't come as a surprise, but when Zelda came back on stage to introduce a song from the Game Boy title Link's Awakening and, to roars of applause, one from Majora's Mask, our inner Zelda fans were more than pleased.
It's abundantly clear that Nintendo gave Moore and his cohorts at Jason Michael Paul productions the resources, freedom and time that they needed to come up with a show that would appeal to every possibly type of Zelda fan.
