It seems like every year we hear about a new piece of news regarding the inevitable Jurassic Park 4, and 2012 is shaping up to be no different so far. According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has hired Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, to pen the script for the fourth installment in the dinosaur franchise. Does this mean that the project is any closer to happening? Perhaps. But remember, this film has been sitting in development hell for nearly a decade, so nothing is guaranteed at this point.

The site also revealed that Steven Spielberg will not be directing this installment; instead, he will be acting solely as a producer. We’re still not sure where the franchise will go after three trips to the same island, but since Jaffa and Silver pleasantly surprised us with Apes, we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on this.
