Nintendo has announced Pikmin 3 at their E3 press conference this morning. It's the first game out of the gate, and it uses a lot of Wii U features.

Players aim shots with wii motionplus on the the game pad, adding enhanced accuracy and strategy. The tablet screen will always show a map of the entire level, providing a frame of reference.

There are new types of Pikmin as well. Nintendo showed off the new "Rock Pikmin", which can be used to break hard objects. There are four leaders this time, and you'll switch between them to solve puzzles. Captain Olemart, hero of the series, isn't one of the characters, but Nintendo isn't saying why at the moment.

We'll tell you more later on when we get a closer look at the Wii U lineup.
