In a bit of surprising news, The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Paramount Pictures has shut down production on the Michael Bay produced Ninja Turtles reboot. The site is reporting that script problems are the main reason behind this move. The studio is currently dealing with expensive reshoots for G.I. Joe: Retaliation and World War Z, and it is apparently looking to ensure that a solid script is in place before the same fate befalls Ninja Turtles.

This means that the entire production staff has been laid off as everyone has been informed that the delay is "indefinite." A close source has told the site that the delay will most likely last around 10 weeks. This means that the movie will no longer be released in time for Christmas of 2013 as originally planned; instead, expect it to be a May 2014 film as of now.

Perhaps the studio will force the writers to stick closer to the original source material and make the Ninja Turtles into, ya know, turtles again. We can only hope.
