Nintendo announced they'll be injecting a large dose of classic games into the 3DS E-Shop in July as part of a program they're calling "8-Bit Summer", according to their latest Nintendo Direct livestream.
Each week in July, Nintendo will add two virtual console games to the 3DS' downloadable library
The bottom line: Nintendo wants you to buy more games on the 3DS e-shop. By the end of the year, they'll have plenty of brand new AAA games for you to download, but in the meantime they're hoping you'll be interested in replaying some of the classics.
This is Nintendo's 8-Bit Summer lineup:
- The Legend of Zelda — July 5th
- Kirby's Pinball Land — July 12th
- The Sword of Hope 2 — July 12th
- Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters — July 19th
- Tumblepop — July 19th
- Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 — July 26th
- Sonic Blast — TBA
- Sonic Labyrinth — TBA
