It's an election year, so that means every comedian in Hollywood will be trying their best to skewer the current political landscape with the best satire imaginable. Normally this type of humor is exclusive to late night TV, but this summer's movie The Campaign is filled with the type of topical nonsense usually only found on The Colbert Report or The Daily Show.
In the movie, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis play rival politicians vying for a Congressional seat. Of course, they're both completely incompetent, which is scary because they also remind us of some real life candidates. Now Warner Brothers has set up two Facebook accounts for the candidates, complete with their very own political commercials. Truthfully, one of these two videos should have shown off the baby punching scene that is reportedly one of the film's funnier moments.
Do these mock political ads sell you on the movie, or is the genre of political satire too competitive for this to stand out?
