Right, so that story about the jilted dentist in Poland who pulled out all of her boyfriend's teeth when he broke up with her? The one that even included quotes from both sides, such as the very memorable exclamation from the victim, "the bitch had emptied my mouth"? Yeah, turns it was totally fake. In hindsight, we probably shouldn't be surprised about this.

MSNBC figured it out...apparently, when a reporter tried to contact local police in Wroclaw, Poland, where the story is said to have taken place, no one had any idea what the reporter was talking about. Additionally, Poland's Chamber of Physicians and Dentists was clueless, and they added that there's no dentist by the name of the one reported as the culprit - Anna Maćkowiak - registered with them. No news outlets within Poland covered the story seriously either, only a few reported it as a "prank" that foreign media was reporting on.

The story seems to have originated with the UK's Daily Mail - when asked about his article, the original writer Simon Tomlinson admitted that he had "drawn a blank" as to where the story actually came from, saying, "The (Daily) Mail Foreign Service, which did the piece for the paper, is really just an umbrella term for copy put together from agencies. My news desk isn’t sure where exactly it came from."

Yeah, you totally got us, Poland. Good joke. Ha-ha. OK.
