Bethesda has released a free browser version of Wolfenstein 3D to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary. Wolfenstein 3D, widely attributed with popularizing the FPS genre on the PC, was iD software's first attempt at making an FPS, paving the way other for them to develop more classic shooters like Doom and Quake, and setting the stage for every FPS since.

The video above is a recording of the latest episode of the Bethesda Podcast, where creator John Carmack reminisces about making the game, and provides commentary as he plays the original DOS version.

Yes, if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Halo, Killzone, or any other FPS super-franchise, you owe it to yourself to at least try this game. Lucky for you, it's not going to take up anything other than a little bit of your time. Play the game right now.
