Filed under: Things we definitely need to see - Vulture is reporting that Martha Marcy May Marlene writer/director Sean Durkin is transitioning to television, adapting legendary horror film The Exorcist into a ten-episode series backed by the executive producers of The Departed and The Ring.
The series will reportedly follow the family of the possessed, following the "the events leading up to a demonic possession and especially the after-effects of how a family copes with it ... when medical and psychiatric explanations fail, the desperate family turns to the church, with Father Damien Karras finally brought in to attempt the exorcism."
Though it hasn't been shopped around to networks yet - that process will begin in two weeks - we're already pretty excited about this one. Who should step into Linda Blair's iconic role? And what about Father Karras?
