When you add up all the money people have poured into various Kickstarter projects over the past couple years, from cool video game proposals to bringing back Jodeci, you get a total of over $200 million.
The company's co-founder Yancey Strickler announced the figure this morning at Wired's business conference in San Francisco. All that money came from over two million citizen funders backing over 22,000 projects.
Although there's often talk of the innovative tech gadgets on Kickstarter, Strickler said consumer products are only a small portion of the overall pie. The most popular category on the site is actually film. There were 12 Kickstarter-funded movies at the recently ended Tribeca Film Festival, for instance.
