A job listing on the Next-Gen.biz job board indicates that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit developer Criterion is working on a new entry in the series for the PS Vita.

Criterion is looking for a Software Engineer who can help them with "optimising and tuning the game resource system for the PS Vita," among other things. The posting has since been altered, now stating that the new hire will help with "Optimizing and tuning the game resource system for other platforms."

Both descriptions imply that the title is either based on an existing Need for Speed game or, more likely, will be a multi-platform title.

A retailer listing April asserted that Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2 would be this year's entry in the racing series. Though Criterion wasn't responsible for the original Most Wanted, rumors that Criterion is at the helm of the next Need for Speed title have been persistent.
