More than likely, most of you have either seen The Avengers already or are planning to sometime this weekend, and just so you know, you're not alone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie made a whopping $80.5 million on Friday alone, bringing its worldwide gross up to $414.8 million so far.
This total is the biggest opening day for a superhero movie, but it still fell slightly behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part II's record first day total of $91.1 million. But the website is reporting that the movie has a chance to break the all-time opening weekend record of $169.2 million held by Deathly Hallows - Part II. Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble piece is an absolute money-making machine so far, but the real test will be over the next two weekends to see if the movie can continue to stay at the top of the box office heap.
