The Little Italy Merchant Association wants Little Italy to feel young, hip, and vibrant. To accomplish this, they've taken the most obvious route: they've commissioned a mural. Hopefully acting like a reverse Pied Piper, leading all the young people to the historic New York neighborhood, the mural is to be painted across the street from the Most Precious Blood Church on Mulberry Street.

The mural is the product of toymaker and street artist Tristan Eaton. Speaking about Eaton's work, Father Fabian Grifone (last image), of the Most Precious Blood Church, offered this: “It looks like an accident of nature. It has nothing to do with the Catholic religion or Italians. It looks like pagan art. I don’t want it."

Still, he's going to get it.
