This 7-minute short was the buzz of the Game Developer Conference in San Francisco this week, and although it was made in a video game system (the PS3) and stars an android (the titular "Kara"), its got more heart and emotional resonance than most movies coming out of Hollywood.

"Kara," from Quantic Dream, the makers of Heavy Rain, is all about the birth of an artificially intelligent companion robot who turns out to be more thoughtful than her makers wanted or expected. By the climax, you'll be surprised at how emotionally invested you are.

The short was made using full-body motion capture and a new advanced graphics engine. Kara is played by and based on the actress Valorie Curry.

Check out Kara for yourself above, we can't get her out of our head.
