Tumblr’s Lawyers Didn’t Take The Terms Of Service Too Seriously

Easter eggs abound.

None

“Terms of Service” prompts are those walls of text every web site, program, and app makes you click “Agree” on so you can’t sue any of them. No one ever reads them, because well, why would you? They’re always more than 140 characters, let alone 140 words.

However, Tumblr user beccap actually took the time out of his or her busy day to read Tumblr’s ToS and stumbled upon some pretty hilarious easter eggs. Under the “Community Guidelines, Tumblr’s lawyers asked users to avoid uploading sexually explicit videos, writing, “We’re not in the business of profiting from adult-oriented videos and hosting this stuff is fucking expensive. You can use services like xHamster to host those instead.”

On the topic of privacy violations, they also wrote, “Don’t post [private] photos of your ex’s junk (no matter how attractive).” Finally, they also stated their position regarding age restrictions. “If you’re younger than 13, don’t use Tumblr,” read the ToS. “Ask your parents for an Xbox or try books.”
