Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling announced that he has resigned from his position yesterday via Twitter.

"Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision."

Bowling has served as the public face of the CoD franchise since before Vince Zampella and Jason West left Infinity Ward to form Respawn Entertainment. If you've seen, heard or read anything about Call of Duty in the past few years, there's a good chance it came from him.

As of now, Mr. Bowling has not commented on his reasons for Activision or if he's moving directly into a new position elsewhere.

Since the announcement, Activision has released an official response regarding Bowling's departure:

"We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He's been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities."

We'll keep you in the loop as more information becomes available.
