At E3 2011, Bioshock creator Ken Levine told the world that he was working on a game for PS Vita set in the Bioshock universe. With some games getting brought over in their entirety to the powerful handheld, it isn't outrageous to wonder if he meant that Bioshock Infinite would be getting an overhaul for Vita.

Speaking with Joystiq, Levine made it very clear that Bioshock Vita is not be a port of Bioshock Infinite: "It's something completely different that we're crafting," said Levine. "It's not BioShock Infinite ported to the Vita."

Levine went on to say that, if he had it his way, he never would have said anything about the Vita project. He made the announcement last June in an effort to help Sony promote the platform:

"I think it's important that people know that a lot of big developers are very committed to the Vita and making that successful, but generally I like to go out with something to show."

The bottom line: Patience is a virtue. We'll see Bioshock Vita when there's actually something to see. For now, take solace that Bioshock Infinite, is less than a year away.
