Trailer Park: “Beyond The Black Rainbow” Looks Like A Mind-Bending Visual Odyssey For Sci-Fi Fans

Prepare to have your mind melted.

Despite already premiering at various film festivals in North America, Beyond the Black Rainbow still remains a mystery to most cinephiles everywhere. Fortunately that feeling shouldn't last too much longer because Magnet is finally prepping a wider release for the movie, and this ambiguous trailer serves as but a mere appetizer for what is to come.

As the debut film of director Panos Cosmatos, Beyond the Black Rainbow looks like a throwback to the sci-fi classics of the '60s and '70s, like Logan's Run, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Solaris. And when you throw in some psychedelic lighting and hard guitar riffs, this trailer looks like it could have come straight from Pink Floyd'sThe Wall. But make no mistake about it, there is something sinister boiling under the surface here.

Like any good trailer, the plot isn't completely revealed in a matter of minutes, but the sight of a captive woman and an oppressive doctor certainly gives us something to go on. Whatever the main story is about, Beyond the Black Rainbow looks like an existential journey through the mind and soul that should challenge viewers both visually and intellectually. It's rare that a hard sci-fi film ever sees the light of day anymore, so this movie has a chance to show audiences that the genre is really about.

There might not be a definite release date yet, but Beyond the Black Rainbow should be on the radar of any fan looking for something a little different from their cinematic diet.
