A new iOS app by Swedish company Scalado has our vanity in mind: it deletes annoying bystanders from a photograph. Brilliantly dubbed “Remove,” the app takes numerous shots of the same photo in succession, allowing it to determine whether objects are stationary or moving. Since moving objects—i.e. pedestrians—will block different pieces of a background in successive shots, the app can fill in the background when a person is removed. However, a stationary person—for instance a sunbather—permanently blocks the background and of course, can’t be removed.
Still under development, the app should be ready for release later this year. Peep the video above to see how it should work.
