Lady Gaga Is Launching Her Own Social Network

For all the little monsters.

Lady Gaga is no stranger to social media— the pop megastar has long been crowned "The Queen of Twitter" with the most followers on the social network by far at over 19 million— but now she's taking her digital savvy to a whole new level. Gaga has launched her own social network, called Little Monsters, which will seek to give her legions of fans an online home of their own.

Little Monsters, which takes its name from Gaga's pet name for her fans, is currently in invite-only beta mode. Leaked photos of the site indicate that it's organized in a manner reminiscent of Pinterest, the fast-growing "social pinboard" site for sharing images.

The startup that built the site is called Backplane, and Gaga's manager Troy Carter is a founder. Backplane's stated mission is to "unite people around interests, affinities and movements," with Little Monsters being its first such endeavor.

Gaga may be a superstar, but does she have enough cache to drive her own social network? Let us know what you think in the comments.
