When it was announced that Kate Upton was going to be on the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, naturally there were people who didn't agree with the choice.
One of them was Sophia Neophitou, the editor-in-chief of English fashion mag 10, and the casting director for Victoria's Secret's fashion shows.
“She’s like a Page 3 girl,” Ms. Neophitou told the New York Times, adding that they'd never use someone like Upton for one of their runway shows. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."
Kate Upton had a chance to reply to the criticism in an interview with Access Hollywood.
"I didn't even try out for the runway show," Upton shot back. "Football player's wife? Gisele [Bundchen's] a football player's wife. I'm okay. Giselle's in that category, I'm good. She wanted to go out and buy my face, it sounds like. That's fine. Go on, buy it. I didn't.... I’m doing fine in my career, I don’t need to walk down their runway so it’s all good. She can think that and I can think whatever I want to think about her."
