Why we’re excited: The good news: Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Shane (Jon Bernthal) and the rest of the gang finally found little Sophia, and that bullet in her zombie head means she’s not coming back. And the even better news: Now that the whole “tirelessly talk about finding the missing kid” plotline is a wrap, The Walking Dead’s cast promises that the second season’s closing half will be a balls-out, all-Hell-breaking-loose storm of action, horror, tragedy, and mayhem.

In other words, what every impatient, complaining Dead head has been hoping and praying for since Rick’s overlong, screw-you-God monologue. As long as new showrunner Glenn Mazzara and Walking Dead overlord Robert Kirkman don’t sacrifice the show’s better character arcs and developments in favor of fan-satiating carnage, we should be on the verge of seeing AMC’s undead Nielsen ripper firing on all cylinders for the first time since, well, ever.
