"Minecraft" LEGO Sets Are In The Works

Does this mean we'll get a "LEGO Minecraft" game as well?

None

Minecraft may soon make the jump to real life, if a partnership with the game's physical analog—LEGO, of course—continues to take shape. Over at Lego CUUSOO, a site where new LEGO sets are proposed and voted on, a Minecraft project got over 10,000 votes in under 48 hours, prompting LEGO to take notice.

"Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world," they write. "You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together.

"As the official Mojang LEGO Minecraft project, we will work with the LEGO Group to secure a licensing agreement and donate the 1% royalty from LEGO CUUSOO to charity. Let’s make LEGO Minecraft happen together!! =D"

As of today, the project has passed the LEGO review process, and they've begun working on specific concepts. We can't wait to see where this leads—and to get our hands on the inevitable LEGO Minecraft game. What about you? Do Minecraft and LEGO scratch similar itches? Should they be combined or left separate? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter.
