Blizzard's Next MMO May Be Set in the Future and Have In-Game Product Placement

A job listing hints that codename "Titan" probably won't be a fantasy game.

None

Blizzard's posted a job opening for a Franchise Development Producer that calls for, among other things, someone who can "work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment's next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience." This is the first indicator we've gotten that Blizzard's new MMO, codenamed "Titan," won't be set in a fantasy world like their previous franchises.

Any modern day product placement would hardly "enhance the gameplay" of WoW, Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3. Imagine if the Lich King stopped halfway through the battle to drink a Coke. And Blizzard has previously stated that the world of "Titan" will be totally new and fresh. The possibility that it's set in a sci-fi world in the future or near-future seems pretty likely, though nothing is confirmed at this point.

Could you sink your teeth into a futuristic MMO from Blizzard, or will you just stick to WoW no matter what? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
