It appears as if comic book characters aren’t just invading your local movie theaters, but they’re also primed to takeover your television as well. According to Entertainment Weekly, The CW Network has ordered a pilot based on the venerable DC Comics character, the Green Arrow.

Debuting in 1941, the Green Arrow is a billionaire playboy named Oliver Queen by day, and a hooded Robin Hood-esque archer by night. Over the years, the character has appeared in various cartoons and comics, but he might have achieved his greatest level of fame when Justin Hartley played him for over 70 episodes of the CW's Superman show, Smallville. But fans shouldn’t expect Hartley back as this incarnation of the Green Arrow because this will apparently be a completely fresh take on the character.

The writers of the Green Lantern film, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, will be producing and writing the show along with Andrew Kreisberg, who actually wrote the Green Arrow comic book for a time. There is no guarantee that the pilot will ever see the light of day, but this project should definitely be on the radar of every fan of DC Comics.
