Two of the biggest mobile treasures Apple has yet to embrace is NFC (Near-Field Communication) and 4G high-speed wireless capability. It's quite baffling, especially since the iPhone 4 and 4S are on LTE giants AT&T and Verizon. A recent report from Nikkei Business states Apple is working with Japanese network NTT DoCoMo to help launch the iPhone 5 with LTE support. The inclusion of NFC technology opens the lane for a wireless payment system similar to Google Wallet, which is being pushed heavy on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Running the iPhone 5 on Verizon’s LTE network would be a high-speed godsend, and if Apple can refine its NFC mechanics, consider the mobile wars a wrap.
